DK Telecom Connecting GOVI for Inclusive Education

Education is a right that belongs to every child, yet for children with visual impairments in The Gambia, access to learning opportunities often comes with unique challenges.
The Gambia Organization for the Visually Impaired (GOVI) has been at the forefront of addressing these challenges by running the GOVI School, a specialized institution dedicated to supporting visually impaired students with the tools, training, and care they need to succeed.
As part of our social corporate responsibility, DK Telecom provides internet connectivity to GOVI School. This contribution is more than a service; it is a bridge to knowledge and inclusion. With internet access, teachers and students at GOVI are now able to explore digital resources, connect with educational platforms, and integrate technology into their lessons in ways that enhance both teaching and learning.
For the students, connectivity opens a new window of opportunity. It allows them to access learning materials in accessible formats, engage with educational software designed for visually impaired learners, and broaden their experience beyond the classroom. For teachers, it creates a vital link to new teaching tools, research, and global networks of educators working in inclusive education.
By supporting GOVI, DK Telecom reaffirms its belief that connectivity should empower everyone, regardless of ability. This partnership reflects our commitment to building a more inclusive society in The Gambia, where technology plays a role in giving every child a fair chance to learn, grow, and contribute to the nation’s future.
